Week 6 Rutherford County High School Football Picks

It's Blackman at Riverdale this week for the annual "Backyard Brawl."

The winner would certainly appear to have a big leg up for second place and a home playoff game should neither beat Oakland later in the season.

Blackman is surprisingly just 2-3 this season, while Riverdale is 4-1 after last week's win at home against Rockvale.

It a big rivalry game, emotions are always high, but the team that keeps those emotions in check will likely wind up the winner on Friday night. It's always a can't-miss game, and this one is no exception. Pick: Riverdale 28, Blackman 21.

Oakland at Rockvale: The Patriots haven't missed a beat and are primed again for a deep playoff run. Rockvale has predictably struggled, but better days await. Pick: Oakland 59, Rockvale 0.

Stewarts Creek at Station Camp: The Red Hawks bounced back nicely last week after falling to Cane Ridge Week 4. It's been a tough season for Station Camp. Pick: Stewarts Creek 35, Station Camp 7.

Siegel at Warren County: The Stars surprisingly lost 42-36 on homecoming to Coffee County last week and are now 0-5 on the season. On paper, it seems like a game Siegel should win, but self-inflicted wounds continue be costly. Pick: Siegel 38, Warren County 37.

Smyrna at Antioch: The Bulldogs are coming off back-to-back wins and shouldn't have any problems in this region game. After all, Antioch has scored only 12 points all season. Pick: Smyrna 56, Antioch 0.

Eagleville at Moore County: Eagleville is coming off two blowout road victories, having scored 100 points in the process. The competition will be much stiffer this week, however. Pick: Eagleville 31, Moore County 16.

MTCS at Cornersville: The Cougars snapped a four-game losing streak last week and should have regained their confidence. Cornersville has played in the last two Class A state title games. Pick: MTCS 28, Cornersville 21.

Last Week: 6-2; Season: 34-12
