Week 4 Rutherford County high school football picks

High school football games have been somewhat unpredictable as some teams are still shaking of the rust of no spring practice, 7-on-7 tournaments, scrimmages and jamborees.

You're truly also is trying to shaking off the rust after going just 5-3 the last two weeks. Hopefully, things will come together for everyone in Week 4.

Here are the Week 4 picks:

Independence at Blackman: The Blaze have already played Alcoa and Ravenwood, so they shouldn't be fazed by Independence. However, Blackman must prove it can move the ball consistently against a quality opponent. Pick: Independence 28, Blackman 21.

Smyrna at Riverdale: Smyrna surprised Riverdale last season with a home victory, and the Warriors remember it all too well. This is the Warriors fourth straight home game before playing their next two region games on the road. Pick: Riverdale 31, Smyrna 20

Stewarts Creek-Oakland: Both teams had open dates as their opponents were unable to play due to the COVID-19 virus. It's nice to see two county foes hooking up, but it figures to be a long night for the Stars. Pick: Oakland 49, Siegel 8.

Siegel at Centennial: Both teams have struggled out of the game and both have faced quality opponents. I want to pick the Stars, but I'll give the edge to the home team. Pick: Centennial 21, Siegel 14.

Rockvale at Clarksville: Rockvale walked away last week feeling it should have won against Warren County. That should be plenty of motivation at Clarksville, which will be playing just its second game. Pick: Rockvale 20, Clarksville 14.

La Vergne at Lebanon: La Vergne is coming off its first loss of the season, while Lebanon lost to longtime rival Mt. Juliet. This has been a good series and games have typically been close. Pick: Lebanon 27, La Vergne 23.

Pickett County at Eagleville: The Eagles, who are off to an 0-3 start, have had enough. Pickett County is the perfect opponent this week: Pick: Eagleville 34, Pickett County 12.

Last Week: 5-3. Season: 18-7
