A home date with Virginia Tech will highlight the 2020 MTSU football schedule that was announced on Jan. 8.
The Blue Raiders, who have played ACC foes Maryland, Georgia Tech, Virginia and Duke, will add Virginia Tech to the list when they play host to the Hokies on Sept. 19.
MTSU opens the season Sept. 5 at Duke, which defeated the Blue Raiders 41-18 here this past season, and will then face Indiana State at home on Sept. 12.
The Blue Raiders other non-conference game will be on Nov. 21 when they play at Connecticut. In the only past matchup between the two, MTSU won 66-10 at UConn in 2000.
Although the non-conference slate will be difficult, at least against the two ACC foes, it pales in comparison to last season when MTSU played Duke, Michigan and Iowa.
MTSU opens Conference USA play on Sept. 26 at Old Dominion and will play five consecutive league foes (Western Kentucky at home Oct. 3), (at FIU Oct. 10), (North Texas at home Oct. 17), (at Rice Oct. 24) before an open date on Oct. 31.
MTSU’s November schedule includes a home game against Charlotte on Nov. 7, a road game at Marshall on Nov. 14, at UConn on Nov. 21 and FAU at home in the season finale on Nov. 28.
MTSU went 4-8 last season and missed going to a bowl game for the first time since 2014.
