Although the full schedule has yet to be completed, several Davidson and Williamson County teams are slated to play in My TV30 Friday Night Rivals games this season.
The first seven weeks of the season have been announced, while the final four weeks have yet to be determined.
Rutherford County currently has two games in the first seven weeks with the Riverdale Warriors hosting the Blackman Blaze in Week 6 in the “Backyard Brawl,” the annual rivalry game between the two schools.
Blackman has won the last seven meetings in a row, with Riverdale’s last win coming in a 28-21 win back in 2011. The Blaze dominated last year’s game, cruising to a 41-0 domination of the Warriors at the Inferno.
Blackman outgunned Riverdale with 548 yards of total offense, including a breakout performance for quarterback Drew Beam, who completed 14 of 19 passes for 307 yards and four touchdowns.
The following week, the Smyrna Bulldogs host the Cane Ridge Ravens in a battle of Region 5-6A rivals. The two teams have split the last four meetings, with each school earning a road win in the series.
Cane Ridge took a 13-3 win in last year’s game.
Both teams will be replacing key members from the previous year. Korey Andrews and Alex Bannister both graduated, leaving both teams looking for a new starting signal caller.
Cane Ridge lost both running back from last year – Devon Starling and Jacquez Norman – while Smyrna lost Blake Watkins, but still has Mikel Hartifeld returning from a 578-yard, seven-touchdown junior season.
