Siegel’s softball team used the power of the bat and the arm of Mary Bradley to defeat Blackman 17-0 and pick up another District 7-AAA win Monday night at home.

The story on the mound was Bradley as she threw four shutout innings, gave up one hit and struck out eight to run her record to 5-0 for the season.

"It is nice to have that kind of run support,” Bradley said. “I know our hitters are going to be tough.”

"Number seven has done a great job for us,” Siegel coach Shawn Middleton added. “She did not walk anybody as we told her to let the defense play behind her.”

Siegel scored in every inning as the Lady Stars pounded out 11 hits, of which six were for extra bases.

The Stars had four doubles, one triple and a three-run home run by Claire Czajkowski.

"We have been working on hitting line drives and not fly balls and also running the bases and not making easy outs and making teams work for the outs," Middleton said of his teams approach at the plate.

Czajkowski had two hits and five RBIs. Reagan Duran and Sam Whitwell also had run-scoring hits for Siegel.

Blackman's only hit came in the opening inning as Sarah Kinderline had a double.

"We have a lot of work to do as we are very young experience-wise, but we will get there." Blackman softball coach Bob Fortel said after his team's season opener.
