Riverdale dominated the Warren County Pioneers with a 42-0 homecoming victory on Friday night.

Riverdale improved to

Riverdale set the tone early as its line opened up huge holes for their running backs. Drew Smith opened the scoring halfway through the first quarter with a 14-yard run, giving the Warriors a 7-0 lead.

“We came out and did what we were supposed to do,” Riverdale coach Will Kriesky said. “Our line opened up holes for our backs and (Drew) Smith got a couple scores.”

Marcus Lloyd joined the party in the first quarter, scoring from nine yards out. After a Pioneer fumble, the Warrior offense took advantage and scored again on a 12-yard run by Cade Hewitt to give the Warriors a 21-0.

The Pioneer offense could not get untracked as they had negative yardage in the first quarter, and it would not get better from there.

Before the end of the half, Smith scored again when he took a pitch around the right side and raced 27 yards to make it 28-0 at the half.

Riverdale came out in the second half and drove the ball down the Pioneers throat, running 10 plays over 82 yards, capped by a 17-yard run by CJ Johnson. After that it was a running clock from the midway point of the third quarter until the end of the game.

Warren County bobbled a punt and the Warriors scooped it up, and on the next play scored on a 2-yard run by Jacorian Currie to close out the scoring.

Riverdale closes the regular season next week, hosting Coffee County for Senior Night.
