Middle Tennessee Christian School announced the hiring of Aaron Morrison as its new head boys basketball coach on Thursday.
Morrison was an assistant a district foe Grace Christian Academy in Franklin since 2018 and was a graduate assistant coach at his alma mater Lipscomb University in 2015-16.
Morrison joins the Cougars after serving as an assistant coach for Grace Christian Academy in Franklin since 2018. After graduating from Lipscomb University in 2013. He also serves as a head coach for the 17U Premier Team for the Stars Basketball Club.
“I couldn’t be more excited for my family and I to join the MTCS community and lead the boys’ basketball program," Morrison said. "From the moment I met the administration at MTCS and spoke to others in the community, I knew that this was the place I wanted to be. Go Cougars.”
Morrison replaces Jason Piercey, who spent 14 years as the Cougars coach. He recently resigned to spend more time with his family and role as the school's athletic director.
“We are thrilled to have Coach Morrison join the Cougars," Piercey said. "His knowledge of the game and passion for mentoring young men made him an ideal leader for our program.”
Off the court, Morrison and his wife Somer are actively involved members of the Church of Christ in Green Hills where they lead the Inner City Ministry program and serve as coaches for the youth group.
“Coach Morrison is ready for this opportunity," MTCS Secondary Principal Dr. Robert Sain said. "His energy, experience, plan for success and passion for developing skilled players that honor God will make him a wonderful addition to our community.”
