BCAT Top 100 Combine –

LEBANON – Free from restrictions imposed last summer due to the coronavirus pandemic, summer basketball is alive and well.

Lebanon High’s Campbell Brandon Gymnasium played host to the invitation-only Basketball Coaches Association of Tennessee (BCAT) Top 100 Combine Saturday, June 26.

The morning session featured stretching and warm-ups. The players then broke into position groups (guards and posts) for position specific drills and skill work.

Next up was 40 minutes of 3-on-3 competition, an information session on NCAA regulations and eligibility, followed by 4-on-4 work.

Then some 95 players were divided among 11 teams for an afternoon of games with the main floor divided for two courts and the auxiliary gym going full court .

BCAT members handled the coaching duties with athletes subbing in and out at eight minute intervals to ensure equal playing time.

On hand to witness the proceeding were dozens of NCAA and NAIA coaches who stayed busy on their phones or notebooks.

Wilson County was represented by three players, guard Paxton Davidson from Green Hill (Class of 2022) and Lebanon High swing forwards Yarin Alexander (’22) and Jarred Hall (’23).

Players from surrounding counties included: Bryce Jackson from Stewarts Creek, Oakand’s Carrington Allen, Connor Tueruff from Pope John Paul II, Eli Rice and Kristian Shaw from Beech, Isaiah West from Goodpasture, Jaylon Jones from East Nashville and Ryan Oliver from Cane Ridge.

A handful of legit “bigs” were on hand including 6-10 Brock Vice from Germantown Houston and 7-1 David Craig from McCallie School.

A couple of players who stood out during afternoon action included Memphis Overton’s Isaiah Regular and Steven Olowoniyi from The Webb School.

“Saturday was a special day for our basketball program,” said LHS head coach Jim McDowell. “Not only did we have two of our guys who earned invitations (Alexander and Hall), we showed off our facilities to all these college coaches.”
