Brentwood’s tennis teams, which each won Large Class state team championships on Wednesday, will have a singles player and a doubles team in the state finals Friday morning.

Ravenwood’s boys’ doubles team pulled off an amazing comeback over Siegel and will be the championship game.

Bruin sophomore Donvan Jacivek defeated Station Camp’s Carter Ramthum (2-0 in the quarterfinals before defeating Knoxville Catholic’s Davis Clem in the semifinals.

He’ll face Central Magnet senior Nathan Zou, which defeated Science HIll’s Griffen Nickels 2-0 in the quarterfinals and White Station’s Takuma Walker in straight sets in the semifinals.

The two met Wednesday in team tournament singles play, with Zou winning in straight sets.

“It’s been surreal and it’s truly and honor to play from Brentwood,” Jacivek said.”(Zou) is a great player and I’m excited to get back out there and play him against. He’s a great player.”

Zou is on a mission in his final year at Central Magnet, saying it’s been a long road to “this point.”

“It feels amazing,” Zou said. “I won this my freshman year and broke my back, and every year since I’ve been working my butt off to get back here. They guy I’m playing is at my level, but that’s when I can play my game at my level.”

In boys’ doubles, Ravenwood’s Jackson Stone and Ethan Eisenhauer rallied to defeat Siegel’s Drew Elliott and Hussain Alzubaidi. They lost the first set 6-4 and were down 5-3 in the second and facing match point.

However, they stormed back to win the second and took the third 6-3 to move to the championship match where they’ll face Hagan Oakley and David Bieger of Tennessee High.

In girls play, Brentwood sophomore Hamsa Javagal easily won her quarterfinal and semifinal matches and will face Collierville’s Romane Britt.

Brentwood’s doubles team of senior Georgia Fischer and Alex Torre swept their Thursday matches and will face Lainey Hill and Sydney Berry of Dobyns Bennett.

Boys finals matches start and 9 a.m. and the girls at 11 a.m. at the Adams Tennis Complex.
