SMYRNA -- Blackman's boys advanced to the District 7-AAA title game as they defeated Riverdale 62-51 in the semifinals on Saturday at Stewarts Creek.
After a close first quarter, CJ Johnson hit a 3-pointer to cut the Blaze lead to one, but Blackman went on a 10-1 run to grab a 17 point lead at halftime and never trailed in advancing to the title game against the Siegel Stars Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
"We had a bad second quarter and dug ourselves a hole and could not get out of it," Riverdale coach Michael Voss said. "We had a good second quarter.
"I like where our team is right now we are playing tough and together," Blackman coach Barry Wortman added.
Riverdale had three players in double figures as Johnson and Santonio McDaniel had 11 points apiece.
Blackman was led by TJ Cross with 14 and Ray Tyler who had 13 points.
Riverdale will play Oakland for third place Tuesday at 6 p.m.
