Main Street Preps has named its 2020-21 All-Midstate Boys Soccer Team

See below for superlative honors, the first and second teams, and honorable mention selections.

Player of the Year

Malachi Jones (Jr., Grace Christian Academy): The Lipscomb commit scored 45 goals and tallied 16 assists this season. Jones might very well have led the Lions to the Division II-A state title but missed the state semifinals and finals with a broken foot.

Team of the Year

Grace Christian: Despite injury misfortune in the playoffs, the Lions were flatout dominant. Finishing the season 20-2-1, their only loss to a Tennessee team came to Knoxville Webb in the Division II-A state finals. Grace Christian allowed less than one goal per game and averaged 5.7 goals on offense.

Coach of the Year

Nate Clapp (Page): Clapp guided Page to its first regional championship since 2003 and 10 different school records or milestone marks, including a program-high 19 victories this season. Page’s 11-game win streak was the longest in school history and its 13 shutouts tied the 2017 team’s record.

All-Midstate First Team

Harrison Watts (Sr., F, Clarksville): Watts had an offensive season for the ages, scoring 32 goals to go with a team-high 29 assists.

Jorge Graniel (Sr., F, Central Magnet): The Maryville signee scored 24 goals and finished his high school career with 50.

Mason Gianakos (Sr., MF, East Hickman): Of his team-high 34 goals, eight came in one game against Culleoka.

Patrick Lee (Jr., MF, CPA): He scored 34 goals and added 21 assists. Three of his goals were game-winners in the postseason and two assists came in a state semifinal loss to Knoxville Webb.

Cade MacLean (Sr., MF, Station Camp): The Belmont signee scored 25 goals — including nine in the postseason — and tallied 12 assists.

Harrison Kraus (Sr., MF, Father Ryan): He scored 19 of his career 25 goals this season while leading the Irish to the Division II-AA state finals.

Alex Johnson (Sr., MF, Grace Christian): The Belmont signee scored 23 goals and added 11 assists.

Riley Clothier (Jr., CB, Oakland): The District 7-AAA Defensive Player of the Year scored 10 goals and totaled five assists from the center back position.

Judah White (Sr., Def., Grace Christian): The Trevecca signee was the Lions’ best defender during a season when the team allowed less than one goal per game.

Ryan Hayes (Sr., Def., Brentwood): A four-year starter headed to play at Emory. He was a vital defensive piece, but five of his goals this year were game-winners.

Jack Gorman (Sr., Page): The goalkeeper helped lead Page to the state finals with 69 saves to 12 goals against (85.2%).

All-Midstate Second Team

Kevin Avalos (Sr., F, Smyrna): Netted 24 goals to become the leading scorer in school history. He added 11 assists.

Braxton Robinson (Sr., F, Oakland): The Mars Hill signee scored 21 goals and contributed 13 assists as the 19-1-3 Patriots enjoyed their best season ever.

Jayce Harvey (Fr., F, CPA): He scored 26 goals to go with 15 assists and added a hat trick in the state semifinals against Knoxville Webb.

Grayson Dugan (Sr., MF, Page): The Maryville signee scored 16 goals while serving as team captain.

Quinn Kunath (Sr., MF, MBA): The Roanoke signee scored 13 goals while holding down the midfield for the Big Red.

Levi Jones (Jr., MF, Grace Christian): The Lipscomb commit scored 14 goals and added 13 assists for the Lions.

Ollie Joyner (Sr., MF, Brentwood): Hit three game-winners as part of 15 goals and 10 assists.

Nick Dang (Sr., Def., Ravenwood): A physically imposing defender, he also contributed nine goals and six assists this season.

Trevor Keele (Jr., CB, Merrol Hyde): The best defender on a defense that posted 13 shutouts this season and allowed just one goal in Class A competition.

Parker Rody (Sr., Def., CPA): While anchoring a defense that posted 13 shutouts this season, Rody still managed to contribute 10 goals and 13 assists.

Naythan Nugent: Northeast’s star goalkeeper was a big part of the program’s best season ever, saving 146 shots to 33 goals against.
