Main Street Preps has named its 2020-21 All-Midstate boys basketball team.

See below for superlative honors and the first, second, third and fourth teams, along with honorable mention selections:

Player of the Year: Brandon Miller, Cane Ridge

Resume: 23.3 points, 8.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 2.6 blocks, 2.3 steals, 47% 3-pt

Miller only needed 16 games to show why 247Sports considers him the top player in the state and the No. 12 prospect in the country. The 6-foot-7 swingman didn’t get to play until Feb. 2, but over the following six weeks, he led Cane Ridge to a 15-1 record and a runner-up finish in Class AAA. Miller can shoot, rebound, pass, dunk and play defense – a rare complete skill set for a high school junior.

Coach of the Year: Adam Sonn, Goodpasture

Resume: 28-1 record, Division II-A state title

Under Sonn’s guidance, Goodpasture went from good to great this season. The Cougars finally advanced past the DII-A state quarterfinals, which had tripped them up the last three seasons, and beat ECS and CPA in the final four to capture the program’s first-ever state title. Goodpasture won 24 consecutive games after dropping its only loss of the season to Memphis University School on Dec. 12.

Team of the Year: Montgomery Bell Academy

Resume: 16-3 record, Division II-AA state title

Few people saw MBA play until the Big Red qualified for the DII-AA final four. The team didn’t begin its season until Dec. 12, fans were not allowed at home games and COVID-19 further trimmed its regular-season schedule. But MBA made the most of its chance on the big stage, downing Knoxville Catholic and then Brentwood Academy for its first title since 2010.
