MTSU starting quarterback Bailey Hockman has reportedly quit the football team.

Hockman started the first three games for MTSU (1-2, 0-1), but was benched in the second half of last Saturday’s 27-13 loss at UTSA.

The North Carolina State transfer struggled in the first half, completing just 5 of 12 passes for 41 yards and an interception.

Hockman threw for 463 yards and four touchdowns and completed 41 of 66 passes (62 percent) in his brief stay with the Blue Raiders. He threw for 2,634 yards, 14 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in two seasons at NC State.

Chase Cunningham relieved Hockman in the second half and completed 9 of 18 passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns.

MTSU plays at Conference USA foe Charlotte on Friday night at 5:30.
