WHITE HOUSE – After weeks of anticipation and several Division I FBS offers, White House senior offensive lineman Dawson Bragg chose to sign with MTSU over rival WKU on National Signing Day.

“I’m excited for him,” Blue Devils coach and MTSU alumnus Jeff Porter said. “I’m excited for the program and the community, all the people who were here today. It wasn’t a one- or two-person deal. It’s a symbolism for our community. Everyone always pulls around for time of need and time of celebration. Congratulations to him, this is a great representation of our football team and our football season.”

Bragg played a key role in this historic year for White House football. For the first time in the state of Tennessee, a football went from 0-10 one year to 10-0 in the regular season the next year. The Blue Devils finished the season 11-1 with a region championship, making it to the second round of the TSSAA state playoffs.

Bragg also had a big year for himself. He was named to the Region 5 All-Region team, the TSSAA All-State team and first team All-Sumner County by Main Street Media.

“It was really cool this year to go through what I went through with my teammates for the turnaround,” Bragg said. “Making all-state was just icing on the cake. I couldn’t have asked for better options, I know that whatever decision I made would be a great decision, but I made the decision that was best for me.”

Bragg also had offers from Cincinnati, UT Martin, Tennessee Tech, Bowling Green, Jacksonville State and Coastal Carolina. A few weeks ago, he also had a visit from the University of Tennessee.

“It was a crazy process,” Bragg said. “It all started late. I’ve heard everybody wants to be recruited until they get recruited, and it’s true. It does get pretty hectic. Mine was a little unique since my film got out late, so I didn’t go through it as long as some people go through it. But it was a blast. I had a great time, but at the same time I’m glad it’s finally here and over.”

Bragg said he wants to major in business or education while at MTSU.

“It’s pretty sweet,” he added. “It’s kind of surreal, so I don’t really have much to say about it yet. But it’s been great, it’s been a great ride and I’m glad I can finally share it with everyone and let them know where I’ve decided to go.”
