Blackman’s soccer team advanced to the 7-AAA tournament finals on Tuesday night after defeating the Siegel Stars by a score of 2-0.

The Blaze will take on the Oakland Patriots on Thursday in the 7-AAA championship game at the Siegel Soccer Complex.

Luke Buckley got the action started for the Blaze in the opening minute with a shot on goal that was deflected away.

Two minutes later Javier Martinez had a kick for the Blaze that was saved, and Buckley had another kick that was batted away.

At the 32-minute mark Buckley had his third kick attempt knocked away by Stars goalkeeper Eli Wellman.

Buckley broke through at the 15-minute mark to make the score 1-0 as he scored on a goal that snuck through.

“Our midfield definitely played me great balls,” Buckley said. “I looked out for the opportunity and took my time and made sure I put one away.”

“The defense definitely controlled the back and they held it with the position. I know the way we distributed in the back and it helped our midfield

Minutes later J.C. Conn scored a goal for the Blaze to give them the 2-0 advantage going into halftime.

Eric Vaughan had a kick on goal for the Stars in the second half, which was one of the few clean looks they had during the match.

Wellman stopped two more scoring attempts by the Stars, but his team’s offense could not muster a score to keep their hopes of a championship alive.
