Sealed proposals will be received by the City of Murfreesboro in the Council Chambers, located at City Hall, 111 West Vine Street, Murfreesboro, Tennessee until 2:00 p.m., CST on December 6, 2022, for the construction of the Connector road between River Rock Boulevard and Beasie Road (approximately 550 linear feet of bridge and 1100 linear feet of approaches plus improvements to River Rock Boulevard), located in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
The work includes the following elements:
This work includes a new bridge over the West Fork Stones River and the approaches constructed to a Murfreesboro City Standard three lane curb and gutter section with sidewalk and multi-use path. Also includes improvements to River Rock Boulevard. The construction will include clearing, grading, stone base, paving, sidewalks, multi-use path, utility relocation, storm drainage and related work as shown on the Construction Plans and listed in the Contract Documents.
Beginning on November 14th, Plans, Specifications, and Contract Documents may be examined at the Engineering and Planning Office, City Hall, Murfreesboro; and at Volkert (Brentwood Commons, 750 Old Hickory Blvd, Suite 230-1, Brentwood, TN 37027). Copies of these Plans, Specifications, and Contract Documents may be obtained from Volkert upon payment of a non-refundable amount of two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00).
A non-mandatory pre-bid conference will be held at 10:30 a.m. on November 22nd, 2022 in the Council Chambers, City Hall, 111 West Vine Street, Murfreesboro, Tn. Representatives of OWNER and ENGINEER shall be present to discuss the project.
To demonstrate Bidder’s qualifications to perform the work, Bidder shall submit written information on present commitments and on experience. Regarding experience, submit listing of at least three (3) similar projects constructed by the Bidder within the last five (5) years. The list should include project name, project owner, and project owner’s contact and shall be submitted with the bid package.
Each proposal must be accompanied by a certified check or bid bond for not less than five percent (5%) of the bid price to guarantee that the bidder will enter into an acceptable contract under bond. A contract performance bond and payment bond of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price will be required from the low bidder. Contractor will be required to certify to a drug-free workplace as specified in the bid documents.
Payment will be made on the 15th day of each month on the basis of ninety five percent (95%) of the work completed during the previous month.
No bidder may withdraw a bid for a period of sixty (60) days after bids have been opened. The City of Murfreesboro reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive technicalities. Bidding shall be in accordance with the Tennessee General Contractor’s License Law. Bidders on construction over the amount of twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000) must be licensed contractors as required by T.C.A. § 62- 6-103. Bidders shall place their bid in an envelope showing the bidders name, license number, expiration date, and that part of classification applying to the bid in accordance with T.C.A. § 62-6-119. Bids not conforming to this provision shall not be opened or considered.
