Mrs. Sara Fay (Mathis) Raper

Mrs. Sara Fay (Mathis) Raper, 85, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, went to be with her Lord on January 14, 2021. 

 

Mrs. Raper was born in Cumming, Georgia and was a proud U.S. Air Force wife. Mr. and Mrs. Raper, and their children, became residents of Murfreesboro when transferred to Sewart Air Force Base in 1960. She was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church in Murfreesboro and always enjoyed gardening, antiquing, square dancing, southern gospel music, and being with her family. 

 

Mrs. Raper is survived by her daughters, Wanda Raper (Rick) Curtis, Donna Dixon, and Linda (Martin) Harrell; son, James (Joy) Raper all of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Lauren (Adam) Brown, Michael (Candice) Henslee, Alex (Tara) Curtis, Justin (Devin) Curtis, Kristen Holmes, Samir Abdeljawad, Jonathan (Mary) Harrell, Matt Harrell, Katie (Van) Bush, Sara (Chase) Hamlin, Ben Raper, Carlee Hall, and Caroline Hall; great-grandchildren, Harrison and Henry Mathis Brown, Lenore and Palmer Henslee, Nolan and Lucy Curtis, Anna Kathryn Curtis, Hannah Holmes, Eric, Cooper, and Will Few, and Blakely and Ryan Hamlin; sister, Martha Thrasher; brother, D.R. (Elizabeth) Mathis and a host of beloved family.

 

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Harrison James Raper; parents, Raymond Mathis and Lettie (Nichols) Mathis; sisters, Olene Williams and Florence Glaze; brothers, C.J. Mathis, Dallas Mathis, and Gershon Mathis; special childhood friend, O’Neill Terry. 

 

The family would like to thank the nurses and caretakers of Harmony at Victory Station and Alive Hospice of Murfreesboro for their love and care.

 

A celebration of life service honoring Mrs. Raper will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens and officiated by Pastor Sam Epley on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. and interment will follow at 2:15 p.m.
