Mr. Vernon Douglas “Doug” Kincaid, age 91, of the Lunns Store Community of Marshall County, died Thursday, November 19, 2020 at his home near Chapel Hill.
Mr. Kincaid was born in Marshall County and was a son of the late Arthur Lee and Ora Fagan Kincaid. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alverta Inez Bunn Kincaid, who died in 2003; a son, Barry Kincaid, who died earlier this year; sisters, Agnes Hargrove, Esther Windham; brothers, Cecil Kincaid and Loyd Kincaid.
Mr. Kincaid served his country in the United States Army and was very active in the former Veterans of Foreign Wars Post of Chapel Hill. He was a plant manager for Canada Dry Bottling Company in Miami, Florida and, after moving back to Tennessee, became the Manager of Franklin Dry Cleaners in Franklin, Tennessee from where he retired. Mr. Kincaid was very active in all aspects of the Chapel Hill Community but was best known as a historian of northern Marshall County.
Mr. Doug is survived by his daughter, Cheryl (Tommy) Martin, Lunns Store Comm.; son, Randy (Kaye) Kincaid, Pottsville Comm.; daughter-in-law, Linda Kincaid, Rally Hill Comm.; grandchildren, Dana (Clay) Ryan, Amanda Ziegler, Kacy Kincaid, Brad (Linsey) Kincaid, Kevin (Abigail) Martin, Brandie (David) Liggett, Chandra Hall; 10 great grandchildren.
Family members will receive friends on Saturday, November 21, 2020 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 22, 2020 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Chatman officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Reed-Walker Cemetery near Chapel Hill.
Randy Kincaid, Tommy Martin, Brad Kincaid, Kevin Martin, Clay Ryan and Johnny Vagts will serve as pallbearers.
