Emanuel N. “Nick” Master

Emanuel N. “Nick” Master, Age 93, of Murfreesboro TN passed away at home on Thursday, April 26, 2018.  

Beloved husband of 67 years of Edna Mae “Kitty” Master. Loving father of Cynthia (Michael) Coakes & Cathleen Cross. Cherished grandfather of Kimberly DiNino, Maxwell Cross & Zoe Cross. Uncle to Mark Master and Dawn Master.

He was preceded in death by his father Nicholas E. Master (Mastrosifakis), his mother Angelina (Pappadopolous) Master, his brother George “Bob” Master and sister Helen Master.  He was born May 20, 1924 in Portland Indiana. Nick was drafted into the army during WWII and served as a combat engineer in the European Theatre. He graduated from DePaul University in 1950.  He was a captain in the Airforce during the Korean War and served as a PX Officer in Japan.

Nick and Kitty lived in Park Ridge, IL and Brooksville, FL before settling in Murfreesboro, TN in 1999.  Nick had a long career in accounting and tax preparation. He also taught accounting at Triton College. He was an avid tennis playerand member of the United States Tennis Association. He was an umpire and served on the board of the Chicago Professional Tennis Umpires Association and helped run local tournaments. He was one of the first volunteers at Feed America First in Murfreesboro.
