Eleanor Roosevelt Jones Ward was born on October 23, 1933, to Charles and Alberta (Waltemire) Jones in Lake County Ohio.

After graduating from Harvey High School in Painesville, Ohio she attended the Salvation Army School for officers. She was commissioned and officer and spent 14 years at Different Salvation Army locations, This Included the Eastern Territory in the United States. She dedicated her life to the service of others and always believed in the very best of everyone she met.

Eleanor Jones Ward was married to Forrest J. Ward who was also a Salvation Army officer, they were married on August 17, 1957, in Cleveland Ohio She is the only surviving family member from her side of the family.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Her sister, Verna; brother, George, and her sister Lucy. She is survived by 4 four sons; Steven Ward and his wife Mary of Murfreesboro, TN Philip J, Ward and his wife Patty of Ballston Spay NY, David Ward and his wife Joanne of Petersburg, MI , Jay Ward and his wife Laura of Murfreesboro, TN; Three nieces Debbie Molinski and her husband Stephen, Mary France Janor, Rita Collett and her husband, J.R. all from Painesville, OH; Nephew, De Forrest and his wife Donna Schupska of Clarksville, TN Eleanor Jones Ward is additionally survived by six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial gifts in her name be given to St. Marks United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro. Woodfin Memorial Chapel is in charge of cremation arrangements.
