Don Simmons




Don Simmons, age 77, of the Laws Hill Community, died Monday, October 8, 2018 in Nashville, Tennessee.  

Mr. Simmons was born in Lincoln County and was a son of the late Henry Albert and Willie Ethel George Simmons.  He was employed with Tyson Foods of Shelbyville, a farmer, and was a former construction worker. In addition to his parents, Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.

 

Mr. Simmons is survived by his wife of 57 years, Argie Simmons, Laws Hill Comm.; son, Duane Simmons, Laurel MS; daughter, Melissa Ray, Laws Hill Comm.; sister, Geneva Patrick, Chicago, IL; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

 

Family members will receive friends on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 from 5 until 8 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home.  Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Hopper Cemetery in the Laws Hill Comm. with Bill Preston officiating.  Burial will follow in Hopper Cemetery.

 

Jonathan Thornberry, Fletcher Thornberry, Manuel Simmons, Randy Frost and Ed Anderson will serve as active pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Wyatt Simmons, C. J. Staten, Jacob Ray and Justin Ray.
