Carla Mohammed-Lawson, age 49, of Beechgrove, TN, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband of 16 years, Arthur “Art” John Lawson.

She is survived by her children, Andrew Lawson, Ryan Lawson, and Lilah Lawson of Beechgrove, TN; parents, Rahamut and Ione Mohammed of Humble, TX; siblings, Alicia Mohammed of Porter, TX, Yasmin Mohammed of Nashville, TN, and Shamir Edoo (Shawna) of Houston, TX; niece Leiah Mohammed of Porter, TX; nephews Eli Edoo and Orion Edoo of Houston, TX; and boyfriend, Jarrod Earlenbaugh, of Beechgrove, TN. Additionally, Carla is survived by family from around the United States, U.S. Virgin Islands and West Indies.

Carla was beloved for her nurturing spirit, her irresistible laugh, and her celebratory approach to life. She adored her three children and raised them to be kind, smart and resilient. Carla’s family meant the world to her, and she loved them unconditionally. Additionally, she cared for hundreds of children, teens, and veterans whom she counseled. She was a tireless advocate for homeless veterans, children in abusive homes, and those without health insurance. She embraced and loved the “lost souls”, working to help them find stable housing and employment. Carla was employed by USHealth Advisors and spent a significant portion of her career at the Volunteer Behavioral Health Care System in Murfreesboro. She was also a farmer and entrepreneur. Carla will be remembered fondly by her family, friends, and coworkers past and present.
