William Cartwright will begin serving immediately as the La Vergne City Court judge, a news release from the city announced last Wednesday.

The La Vergne Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted during its May meeting to appoint a new judge to the City Court, which handles traffic citations issued by the City of La Vergne Police Department.

Cartwright has owned a private law firm since 2015, focusing on estate planning, probate, family, business and criminal law. He is a 2015 graduate of Nashville School of Law and has an MBA from Troy University as well as a bachelor’s of business administration from Middle Tennessee State University.

Cartwright has held an executive level position in a car-haul transportation company.

“My passion has always been in the legal field and to have my own successful practice,” Cartwright said. “I have great respect for the judges I am in front of each week.”
