Police have been investigating the death of Murfreesboro Police Officer Derek Toriq Qadir, 29, whose body was found in his Robert Rose Drive residence Tuesday afternoon.
Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents began working on the case Tuesday, said Josh DeVine, the bureau’s communications director.
The Murfreesboro Police Department said there are no signs of foul play.
An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday, DeVine said.
Murfreesboro Police Department spokesman Larry Flowers said in a statement that the TBI began working the case upon request by Chief Michael Bowen and 16th District Attorney Jennings Jones.
“It is with deep sorrow to report that a Murfreesboro Police Officer was found deceased at his Murfreesboro residence this afternoon,” Flowers said Tuesday.
