Two people are in custody following a lengthy pursuit lasting nearly an hour Wednesday morning that started in La Vergne and ended in a rural part of Murfreesboro, the City of La Vergne said.
La Vergne officers attempted to pull over the driver, identified as Christopher McMahan, 45, around 10:45 a.m. on Taylor Drive, the city said. McMahan led officers on a pursuit through Smyrna and Murfreesboro before stopping in front of his home on Cranon Road in rural Murfreesboro around 11:30 a.m. McMahan and his passenger, identified as Donna Shelton, 49, were taken into custody without further incident.
Officers from Smyrna Police Department, Murfreesboro Police Department and the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Officer participated in the chase.
McMahan is charged with felony evading, felony reckless endangerment x2, criminal simulation, drug paraphernalia, driving on a revoked license, misuse of registration and felony warrant service, La Vergne said. McMahan has been previously arrested 33 times and also has an active warrant for aggravated assault out of Rutherford County.
Shelton is charged with resisting stop, frisk, halt, arrest or search, La Vergne said.
