Popular Smyrna barbecue restaurant Slick Pig will be closed until at least Jan. 1 because of a management team change, said Matt Nelson, general manager of the Slick Pig Murfreesboro restaurant.
Slick Pig Smyrna, which opened in September 2019, closed for Thanksgiving on Nov. 28 and has not reopened.
The Smyrna location is a franchisee to the Murfreesboro restaurant.
Nelson said that the organization had lost confidence in the managing partner’s ability to lead, and that the legal process to make changes to the contract is expected to take at least 30 days.
Nelson praised Bryan Carlos Saddler, a silent partner in the Smyrna franchise.
“Bryan has bent over backwards to work with us through this entire endeavor, and has worked closely with us through this latest circumstance. We are looking to expand our relationship with him in this project,” Nelson said.
Saddler is also the leader of The Pentecostals of Smyrna church. Slick Pig Smyrna is near the church in the Plaza Center.
Nelson also said that customers who have placed an event order with the Smyrna location can have it filled in Murfreesboro by calling (615) 890-3583.
A Town of Smyrna official said there were no maintenance issues at Slick Pig Smyrna that involved the town.
