A search is underway for a potentially armed 16-year-old juvenile who escaped Thursday afternoon from the Rutherford County Juvenile Detention Center.

Clarksville Police identified the juvenile as Tai Tyron E. Harrell of Clarksville. Harrell was being held for Clarksville Police when he escaped from the Rutherford County facility, the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

He was being held on 10 counts of aggravated assault, felony reckless endangerment, evading arrest and leaving the scene of an accident. He is considered armed and dangerous, police said.

Murfreesboro Police reported the juvenile allegedly stole a gray 2019 Toyota Tundra with a loaded weapon inside the truck. He may be driving on Interstate 24 toward Clarksville.

Rutherford County Sheriff’s deputies were notified and are searching for the juvenile. Sheriff’s detectives were assigned to investigate.

Harrell is a black, 5-foot-6-inch male. He has a tattoo of Bart Simpson with black hair on his right forearm and the numbers 410 on his left forearm.

People who see Harrell are asked to immediately call their local law enforcement agency and give his location.
