The Murfreesboro Police Department identified the victim of a fatal shooting that took place on Friday, June 21, and are looking for the suspect.
MPD identified the victim as Daicori Lee Sunders, 25, of Manor Drive.
A murder warrant has been issued for suspect Quandre Knowles, 22, of Murfreesboro, MPD said. If you know where investigators can locate this subject, contact Criminal Investigation Division Det. Jacob Fountain at 629-201-5525.
The murder investigation began on June 21 around 11:29 p.m. when officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 1400 block of Manor Drive in reference to a possible assault, police said in an incident report.
According to the report, the complainant said his grandson, Sunders, was intoxicated and got into an altercation with someone and then walked away. Police searched the area around a playground. Officers said that after they returned to the apartment, dispatch received a call about an unresponsive male laying in the middle of the road at 1322 Eagle St.
Officers said they found a man later identified as Sunders laying in Eagle Street with multiple gunshot wounds. Personnel with the Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services (RCEMS) and Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department attempted to treat Sunders for his injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene by RCEMS, the MPD said.
