Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department (MFRD) is seeking the public’s help in identifying a person of interest in connection to a trash bin they say was intentionally set on fire on Sunday, July 28.
According to MFRD Fire & Life Safety Specialist Shan Womack, surveillance video shows a subject walking up to a trash bin behind the Yard Sale store, 204 S. Front St., according to a press release. The video shows the subject lighting a cigarette while approaching the bin, then allegedly using the same lighter to ignite its contents before leaving the area on foot, the MFRD said.
“The person is believed to be a middle-aged male with visible leg tattoos,” said Womack. “He was last seen wearing a bright orange T-shirt and light-colored shorts and dark shoes.”
The damage was limited to the contents of the trash bin, the MFRD said.
The MFRD Fire Marshal’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying the person on video. If you have any information regarding the fire, please call 615-849-2605.
