Planners approved a medical office building and tire shop for Blackman during a meeting Wednesday.
The Murfreesboro Planning Commission approved a site plan for the “Westlawn Medical Office Building” on Veterans Parkway at Shores Road. No schedule was given for construction of the three-story, 55,000-square-foot building.
In another section of Westlawn, planners approved the plats for creating six commercial outparcels on 24 acres for a project called Westlawn Pavilion.
Westlawn previously had homes, and in summer 2018, the developers applied with city officials to change the Planned Unit Development zoning to allow commercial uses. Those changes were approved despite concerns voiced by some residents.
In other business, Tire World is seeking to rezone 2.41 acres on Franklin Road west of Rucker Lane for a tire shop and corporate headquarters. The zoning would change from Commercial Fringe to Planned Commercial District.
The developer’s representative, Rob Molchan of SEC Inc., said the store would share an internal connection with Toot’s West restaurant. The plan consists of a tire store fronting Franklin Road and a headquarters building in the rear.
A public hearing was set for Dec. 4.
Also, the Phase 1 site plan of Oakland Court with 76 residences in 44 buildings was approved. The project is part of the complete redesign of the public housing community next to Oaklands Mansion.
And, planners considered a request for annexation and zoning of property at Yearwood Avenue and North Rutherford Boulevard to build an 11,000-square-foot retail center called The Shoppes at Yearwood. A Dec. 4 public hearing was set.
