The home of a Smyrna family with elementary school age children was destroyed by a fire possibly started by lightning on Thursday night.
The Smyrna Fire Department responded to the fire Thursday evening in the 1300 block of Bantry Drive with the house already heavily involved by fire. No one was injured in the fire and no other structures were affected.
The home has been designated as “condemned” and cannot be occupied. According to Smyrna officials the home may be a total loss. The fire incident remains under investigation.
Three American Red Cross Heart of Tennessee Chapter volunteers from Smyrna responded to the scene to assist the family with immediate needs for food, clothing and shelter.
