La Vergne firefighter Allen McCormick has earned his certification for Fire Officer III through the State of Tennessee Fire Commission.
Life Safety Officer McCormick received his certificate on June 17 after taking the two-week course which is designed for fire department chief and company officers who are preparing to enter upper management level of their department.
“The Tennessee Fire Commission process and evaluation validates his knowledge and skills compared to other fire officers across the nation,” LFD Chief Ronny Beasley said. “This was no easy task, and LSO McCormick’s continual pursuit of education and professional development is a mark of a dedicated officer and firefighter.”
McCormick has been with the department since 2001. He also spent five years during that time volunteering at the Almaville fire department.
Only one other member of LFD is a certified Fire Officer III. Several others are enrolled in program.
