A Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department (MFRD) firefighter was treated for non-life-threatening injuries after battling a brush fire Tuesday afternoon.
The MFRD was dispatched to a field fire at Kingdom Drive and Veterans Parkway around 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, according to a press release.
Upon arrival, crews discovered around an acre of wheat on fire in the field. The wind caused the fire to spread rapidly, and Rutherford County Fire Rescue Department crews quickly responded to assist MFRD with the blaze.
The fire was extinguished and crews wetted down the remaining radius, according to MFRD Battalion Chief Tim Swann. Approximately 10-15 acres of the field were damaged.
There was no loss of property except for the wheat.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
