A woman died after her SUV pinned her to a pole Friday at a car wash, the Murfreesboro Police Department said.
The victim has been identified as Alyce Phillips, 85, of Christiana, the MPD said.
The MPD responded to the South Church Street car wash around 10 a.m. on a report of a serious injury crash.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Phillips, while driving a 2016 Toyota Rav4, was attempting to pay using the automated machine, while holding one foot on the brake with the door open, the MPD said. The car rolled forward and the door hit a pole, pinning the victim.
Personnel with the Rutherford County Medical Services treated Phillips on the scene with assistance from Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department. The driver was taken to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital, where she was declared dead.
