The La Vergne Police Department said it arrested two suspects in connection with a Smyrna armed robbery.

LPD said it arrested Jacob MacDonald, 29, and Sydney Sorrell, 23, on Interstate 24 last week. They were taken to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office to be booked.

The arresting officer was working a crash with Metro Nashville Police when he recognized the vehicle, license plates and driver as the car passed him based on a report issued by the Smyrna Police Department, LPD said. He followed the vehicle and pulled it over on the interstate without incident.

MacDonald and Sorrell were charged with robbery, according to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office. MacDonald was released on a $4,000 bond. Sorrell was released on a $2,000 bond.

Both MacDonald and Sorrell were wanted in connection to an armed robbery warrant issued by Smyrna police on Aug. 18, LPD said. A victim’s cell phone was reportedly taken.

The same officer who made the arrest attempted to pull the driver over on Aug. 19, LPD said. He went on a pursuit into Nashville but was unable to stop the driver and discontinued the pursuit.
