Norman Hanks, whose drag persona is Veronica Paige and the reigning Miss Boro Pride, is running for Rutherford County Mayor. Using his talents in performing arts, he helps to raise money and awareness for various causes including Boro Pride.
Hanks made the decision to run because he wants for the people to have a choice of someone who works hard every day for the betterment of the community.
“I’m running because I wanted to see change in Rutherford County and I wanted to see someone like me –– a gay man, someone who puts the people first, and someone who gives back to the community,” he said.
As Rutherford County faces exponential growth, Hanks wants to strengthen the county so it’s in a better position for this growth. Hanks will work with other area mayors to ensure that the best options and opportunities are explored. His platform consists of the following:
• Landfill Solutions
• Unhoused Community
• Gun Control
• Human Rights
Hanks, a Rutherford County native, is a graduate of MTSU and has worked with nonprofit organizations his entire career. He’s a recent graduate of Leadership Rutherford, treasurer of the Rutherford County Veterans’ Community Center, a ranking and reviewing committee member for HUD grants and Miss Boro Pride.
