Three companies and city officials announced plans last week to open major operations and headquarters centers in Murfreesboro with about 169 new jobs.
Cintas Corp., which provides specialized services to businesses such as uniforms, supplies and safety materials, will open a $20 million regional operations center at the West Point Development. That is located at I-24 Exit 80 at New Salem Highway and Warrior Drive, the City of Murfreesboro said.
A total of 144 new jobs will be created with an average salary of $65,000, well over the county average of $49,322, the city said. The facility will be completed over the next year.
The operations center will house management and production teams. Because this location will serve Cintas’ regional accounts, the community will receive sales tax revenue from this location, potentially up to $1 million by the fifth year, the city said.
SteelSummit Holdings, a national metals service center and trading company based in La Vergne, has selected Fountains at Gateway for its corporate headquarters. The firm has leased 11,551 square feet of office space on the third floor of One Fountain Plaza at Fountains at Gateway, announced developer Scott Graby.
Approximately 30 executives and management team members will move from the company’s manufacturing location in La Vergne to the new headquarters space, according to Todd Rollins, CEO of SteelSummit.
The company processes metals for the automotive, heating and cooling, appliance, construction, and other industries, and has a manufacturing facility in Davidson County near La Vergne.
“Our company and headquarters operations are expanding and we need to move our corporate offices to a larger, more strategic, location,” Rollins said.
Construction of SteelSummit’s space begins in the coming month and will be completed in early spring 2020. Paradym Studio is leading the design and engineering for the buildout.
Also moving to the Fountains at Gateway is Saltworks Security, an application security company based in the Atlanta area. The company has leased 5,464 square feet of office space on the top floor of One Fountain Plaza at Fountains at Gateway.
Saltworks Security builds application security programs. Customers include global financial institutions, healthcare, insurance and other customers who create applications that manage highly secure data.
Dennis Hurst, founder and president of Saltworks Security, said the company will hire more than 25 engineers in software development and application security at the new office, which will be the firm’s third office in the US.
Hurst said, “We are very enthusiastic about expanding Saltworks Security’s operations to Murfreesboro, because we wanted a location where people can work close to home. We look forward to building our team with experienced engineers and developers who live in the area and don’t want to commute to Nashville as well as new engineering graduates from Middle Tennessee State University.”
Construction of Saltworks’ space began last week and will be completed in January 2020.
