Thirteen cultural organizations in Rutherford County will receive a combined $106,850 in grants from the Tennessee Arts Commission.
The organizations are: Carpe Artista; Center for the Arts; Children’s Museum of Rutherford County; Ethos Youth Ensembles / Murfreesboro Youth Orchestra; Generation for Creation; International Folkloric Society Planning Council; Kids for Creative Arts; Main Street Murfreesboro/Rutherford County; Middle Tennessee Choral Society; Middle Tennessee State University; Southeastern Young Adult Book Festival; Tennessee Association of Dance; and Tennessee Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra / Murfreesboro Symphony Orchestra.
Also, Kimberly Dummons will receive an Individual Art Fellowship Grant.
The Center for the Arts received a major grant of $22,180 in the category of partnership support. This grant provides support for qualified arts organizations chartered in Tennessee with budgets less than $1 million annually.
The Center for the Arts received a second grant totaling $3,800 for Arts Education-Community Learning, which goes to support projects that demonstrate creative and innovative arts education programming.
The first series of grants are expected to be made throughout the next 12 months starting in July.
