State election officials will audit Rutherford County Mayor Bill Ketron’s campaign finances and Quest PAC finances from his time as a state senator and in his new role as mayor.
The Murfreesboro Post contacted Janet Williams, interim executive director of the Tennessee Bureau of Ethics and Campaign Finance, by email.
Williams said, “The Registry voted at its August meeting to audit Bill Ketron’s senate and mayoral campaign accounts and Quest PAC. They (sic) audits will cover from the beginning of 2018 through the end of the 2nd Quarter of 2019.”
Williams did not provide a timeline for the audits, and she was unavailable for further comment.
Rutherford County Commissioner Robert Stevens sent Williams a letter dated July 22 asking state elections officials to investigate and audit the campaign finance accounts to see if there are “additional violations of campaign finance laws.”
Last year, state officials said Ketron and his political action committee both failed to file documents on time and were hit with numerous fines.
