The Rutherford County Retired Teachers Association is hosting a Pre-Retirement Seminar for employees of any education system on Thursday, Jan. 21, from 4:30-6 p.m. The seminar will be conducted online by Ryan Marlin, Retirement Plan Advisor, Retire ReadyTN. The seminar is for anyone who will retire under the state retirement plan. Check the Rutherford County Retired Teachers Association website www.rcrta.org for updates concerning the seminar after Jan. 14.

Murfreesboro author Judy Lee will have a book signing on Saturday, Jan. 23 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Linebaugh Public Library, 105 W. Vine St. in Murfreesboro. Lee will be signing copies of her books, “Emotions on Paper”, “Haunted Dreams” and her latest work, “The Old Haunted Mansion” which will be on sale for $15 each.

The Murfreesboro Housing Authority will have public input on its Mercury Park Master Plan through an online Zoom meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 27 from 4-5:30 p.m. The Zoom link will be published on the master plan’s website: http://www.mercuryparkmasterplan.com. There is also a survey available on the website.

Homeschool Winter Science Camp for homeschool students ages 7-12 will be held Feb. 8-12 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. each day at Wilderness Station at Barfield Park. Cost is $75 per student. Pet Adoption & Welfare Services (PAWS) shelter is looking for foster volunteers to give care to kittens and puppies outside the shelter, reducing their chances of coming in contact with illnesses or diseases until they are at a healthy state and age to come back to the shelter to be spayed or neutered and placed up for adoption. The Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church Food Pantry, located at 1601 N. Tennessee Blvd. in Murfreesboro, is open to the public every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. until noon.  Due to COVID-19, the food pantry is currently setting up outside on those days.
