The reading of the Declaration of Independence will be held on Friday, July 3 at 9 a.m. on the courthouse square in Murfreesboro. The event is hosted by the Colonel Hardy Murfree Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Barbecue for Veterans will be held Saturday, July 11 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at VFW Post 8422, 10157 Old Nashville Highway in Smyrna. A barbecue plate from Fat Guy’s Barbecue will be available.

The 2020 Folds of Honor Golf Tournament has been postponed until Saturday, July 18. To sign up, call (615) 274-2301.

A Car Show benefiting Special Kids Therapy and Nursing Center will be held Saturday, Aug. 15 from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church, 655 W. Thompson Lane in Murfreesboro. The 2020 TSSAA Hall of Fame luncheon and induction ceremony has been rescheduled for Saturday, Nov. 21. The event will be held at the Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro. Tickets will be made available on the TSSAA.org website.

TN Achieves is recruiting volunteer mentors to provide a local support system to every TN Promise applicant in the Class of 2021. Mentors work with a small group of three to seven students as they transition from high school to college. Mentors complete a training course in person or online.
