Sixteenth Annual Apples for Sight sponsored by the Murfreesboro Lions Club will be held through Nov. 7. The Club is taking $100 donations for a big box (approximately 28-30 pounds) of a new crop of Gala apples. The Long Term Care Ombudsman Program is recruiting volunteers in the Rutherford County area. Volunteer applicants must pass a background check and attend a 16-hour in-house training. The next training session will be held Nov. 4-5 in Nashville. Mid-Cumberland Human Resource Agency’s program advocates for the rights of thousands of residents in nursing homes, assisted-living facilities, and homes for the aged in Rutherford County. Pet Adoption & Welfare Services (PAWS) shelter is looking for foster volunteers to give care to kittens and puppies outside the shelter, reducing their chances of coming in contact with illnesses or diseases until they are at a healthy state and age to come back to the shelter to be spayed or neutered and placed up for adoption. Rutherford County Isaiah 117 House Golf Tournament will be held Friday, Oct. 16 at 11:30 a.m. at Indian Hills Golf Club, 405 Calumet Trace in Murfreesboro. The Wesley Foundation of Middle Tennessee Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, Oct. 17 at Old Fort Golf Course in Murfreesboro.
