The Rotary Club of Murfreesboro holds its 10th annual Pancake Breakfast from 7 a.m. till 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at Middle Tennessee Christian School, located just off of Memorial Boulevard.

The breakfast, a holiday tradition that includes Santa Claus and Christmas music, is the club’s largest fundraiser, with proceeds benefiting a diverse set of community initiatives, including the Cool Aid Project and Dictionary Project that benefits all Rutherford County third graders. The event also provides donations to the Murfreesboro Center for the Arts, as well as other nonprofit organizations.

“Rotary’s motto is ‘Service Above Self,’ which follows our worldwide theme of promoting others before profit,” said Mark King, the club’s president-elect and chairman of this year’s breakfast. “Rotary continues to promote giving more than you receive.”

Tickets for the breakfast are $5 and are available from club members and will be sold at the door. Carryout meals will be available for those not wishing to dine at the school.

The local club, founded in 1919, boasts 99 members with a hands-on participation rate of almost 80 percent. It meets Tuesdays at noon at the Stones River Country Club in Murfreesboro.
