Medical offices planned for Gateway area

There are plans for another medical office building in the Gateway district.

The Murfreesboro Planning Commission held one of two regular monthly meetings Wednesday, May 16. The commission approved a site and design plan for Parkway Office Park on a four-acre lot along Kennedy Drive, Williams Drive and Carl Adams Drive in the Gateway area.

RBN Gateway Properties, the developer, wants to build two medical office buildings in two phases, the first of which came before the planning commission Wednesday. That two-story building would be 147,240 square feet in size and 40 feet tall, according to planning commission documents. The developer will have to appear before the planning commission before constructing the second building, with a planned height of four stories.

The commission also approved a master plan and preliminary plat for four lots on 13.96 acres along Medical Center Parkway at Warren Street. Other projects receiving approval were a site plan for eight two-bedroom apartments on Old Lascassas Road and a master plan and preliminary plat for four lots on Dejarnette Lane that are zone Planned Commercial District.

Additional cases included:

  • Application to amend the Westlawn PUD on Veterans Parkway to break off two parcels of the development to create commercial uses. There will be a June 6 public hearing at the planning commission.
  • Application for 5.1 acres on Manchester Pike at Maples Farm Drive to rezone from Commercial Highway to RS-A Type 2 (townhomes). The planning commission will hold a June 6 public hearing.
  • Annexation, plan of services and zoning for property along Saint Andrews Drive and Veterans Parkway for the city’s new Southwest Elementary School. There will be a June 6 public hearing.
  • Annexation and plan of services for 146.6 acres along Bradyville Pike for Carter’s Retreat subdivision. This case has previously appeared before the planning commission and city council, which sent the matter back to the planning commission. Assistant Planning Director Matthew Blomeley said the new plan is for the city to connect the property to the city limits by annexing along Bradyville Pike and not Veals Road as originally designed. The zoning application is separate from the redesigned annexation plan. There will be a June 6 public hearing.
  • Annexation, plan of services and zoning for 86.2 acres of a 190-acre parcel on Florence Road along Interstate 24 by the Roy L. Waldron Family Ltd. Partnership. Requested zoning categories are RS-A Type 2, CH and CF. There will be a June 6 public hearing.
