Letter-writing campaign returns for holiday weekend

“Operation Famous Salute” returns for a 12th year to all Tennessee Famous Dave’s restaurant locations, including the Smyrna location, over the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

The letter-writing campaign is geared to deliver thank you messages and notes of encouragement to the nation’s active and recovering military service members.

Beginning Friday, May 25, all Tennessee Famous Dave’s locations will invite patrons to write to active service members and those recovering in military hospitals. In turn, Famous Dave’s will provide all stationery, a coloring page for children and all the postage costs to send the messages to the nation’s military members.

“This is one of the best things we can do to honor those who have given their lives in service to defend our nation and each one of us,” said franchise owner Laurel Renegar. “And that is, to take care of those presently serving … to remind those men and women that we are always thinking of them.”

Since its inception, “Operation Famous Salute” has collected more than 13,000 letters and sent them to military personnel serving around the world, as well as those recovering stateside.

Famous Dave’s locations will collect letters beginning Friday, May 25, through the close of business on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28.
