History museum visitors The fifth grade students at Thurman Francis Arts Academy in Smyrna created a Tennessee Living History Museum as part of a civics project. State Rep. Mike Sparks, R-Smyrna, visited the museum to see the exhibits about the three branches of government and the history of music in Tennessee. “It was an honor to support the students at Thurman Francis during their Tennessee Living History Museum presentation,” Sparks said in a news release. “As an alumnus of the school, it was encouraging to see so many our young people excited about local government and interested in public service.” Smyrna Mayor Mary Esther Reed also attended the event.
