A Christian counseling center will host a free seminar on self-help topics later this month.
Branches Counseling Center will hold the annual Simply Free Redemptive Conference on Friday, Oct. 25-Saturday, Oct. 26.
The seminar is for “anyone wanting to celebrate freedom found from addiction, shame, unforgiveness, or to find that freedom,” Dr. Michael Courtney said. He and wife Doris co-founded Branches with Chonda Pierce.
Many of the speakers are people who have battled traumatic events such as sex trafficking and depression. They will share their personal stories, Doris Courtney said. Break-out sessions will include the topics of anxiety and depression; disciplining children; Enneagrams; forgiveness; nutrition; and co-dependency.
According to Branches’ website, Michael Courtney is a pastor, counselor and writer who also is a recovering addict. The founding of Branches was a result of his family’s experience in healing, he said.
There is no cost to attend the Simply Free Redemptive Conference, but reservations are needed by Monday, Oct. 21, Michael Courtney said. The only cost is an optional lunch Saturday for $10. RSVPs are available by calling (615) 904-7170 or going online to branchescounselingcenter.com.
Topics are appropriate for ages teens and above.
The seminar will be at Family Worship Center, 3045 Memorial Blvd.
