Veteran prosecutor Travis Lampley has announced his run for Rutherford County Juvenile Court Judge, vacated with the retirement of Judge Donna Scott Davenport.

Lampley currently serves as the Assistant District Attorney in Cannon County for the State of Tennessee in the 16th Judicial District, which includes Rutherford and Cannon Counties. He has been practicing law in Rutherford County since 2004.

Lampley’s extensive experience includes work in the Juvenile Division of the Davidson County District Attorney’s office and General Counsel for the Department of Children’s Services. While in private practice his focus areas included representation of both parents and juveniles in dependency and neglect proceedings, as well as custody proceedings and delinquency proceedings.

“I love this community. I am proud to have been a Rutherford County resident for nearly two decades. This is where my wife and I have built and are raising our family. That’s precisely why I’m running for Juvenile Court Judge: to share my passion for this community, while helping build and maintain a great legacy for the people of Rutherford County,” Lampley said.

“By offering my legal expertise, I believe I can do just that. What an honor and privilege to earn voter trust and serve as judge. My ultimate goal is to restore impartiality and equality in the courtroom, while upholding the law. And, I hope voters will recognize my long-standing commitment to our community, as well as my work to seek justice in both current and past roles as historical context for how I intend to serve moving forward.”

Lampley is a graduate of the University of Tennessee and earned his Juris Doctorate at the Appalachian School of Law. He lives in Murfreesboro with his wife and three children. He currently serves as the chair of the Murfreesboro City School Foundation and is a local Little League baseball coach.

Combining his passion for community engagement with leadership, Lampley is an alumni of Leadership Rutherford and also previously served as a Diplomat for the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce.
