A Soldier’s Child needs volunteers to help it provide birthday gifts to more than 200 Gold Star children.
The Smyrna-based nonprofit supports Gold Star families of fallen soldiers. Every month it holds a large shopping spree at a local store where volunteers select birthday gifts for a child using a wish list from the child, then follow up with a large gift-wrapping session.
Volunteers do not pay for the gifts.
E. Allen Boutique is sponsoring the next shopping event, said Kiersten-Eve Springer, communications coordinator for A Soldier’s Child.
The gifts will be wrapped from 12:30-5 p.m. Sept. 14 at Providence Christian Academy, Springer said. A surprise birthday party for one local child with dinner will be at 5:30 p.m. at the same location.
“Or it will take all day to wrap,” Springer said.
