After announcing her intention to run for congress, Rutherford County GOP Chairwoman Lou Ann Zelenik resigned her post over the weekend.
The Rutherford Republicans meet Tuesday night to replace Zelenik, so she can continue her challenge for Bart Gordon’s congressional seat in 2010.
“It has been my privilege to serve as the Vice Chair and Chair of the Rutherford County Republican Party, and stepping down is one of the hardest things for me to do,” she said in a letter.
Zelenik was appointed chairwoman in May after Nate Schott stepped down as chairman.
